After a refreshing lunch break, CMRobertina will pose for a long 2.5-hour session, allowing you to create a more detailed piece. Experience the ultimate challenge at the 2024 North York Moors 300 Individual Time Trial, taking place in Thirsk from July 6th to July 7th. This cycling endurance event, organized by the creator of the renowned Yorkshire Dales 300, offers a grueling road and off-road route without any support. Participants will embark on a non-stop journey or have the option to camp overnight, with a GPS route provided for navigation. The event is open to CX bikes, mountain bikes, and gravel bikes, excluding road bikes and eBikes due to terrain challenges. Riders will set off from RedSky Bikes at 7:45 am, following an individual time trial format through the picturesque North Yorkshire Moors. While not a race, completing the route earns participants a well-deserved badge, along with a hearty breakfast before departure and a hot meal upon return. We will have a model in the first hour and I (CMRobertina) will be guiding you into the techniques of sketching these quick poses and using gestural drawing. After the lunch break I (CM Robertina) will be your model and we will have 1 long pose of 2.5 hrs for you to work on a larger, more detailed piece. We have easels and boards available. Welcome to The Idea of North Exhibition Preview Come join us at Rural Arts for the preview evening of a unique showcase celebrating the beauty and essence of the North. Immerse yourself in a collection of stunning artworks that capture the spirit of the northern landscapes and cultures. The work of almost 40 artists from across North Yorkshire comes together in an evocative exhibition at The Courthouse, Rural Arts’ base and arts centre in Thirsk, each celebrating their own individual ‘idea of the North’. Organised by North Yorkshire Open Studios (NYOS), the show will span a wide range of styles, media and subjects as the artists show their responses to author Peter Davidson's theory that ‘Everyone carries their own idea of North within them’. The exhibition takes its title from Davidson’s book, The Idea of North, published in 2005, which shows the North to be a goal rather than a destination, a place of revelation that is always somewhere absolute and austere - and eternally just out of reach. The 3rd North York Moors 300 bike-packing individual time trial. July 5th to the 6th 2025. From the creator of the infamous Yorkshire Dales 300 comes the North York Moors 300. This route can be ridden on a CX bike. Mountain bike or a gravel bike. NOT a road bike and an eBike will not have enough battery to get you around. After a quick chat at 07.45 am, you are invited to go off and enjoy a pre-planned route in the North York Moors. This is an individual time trial ride but you can ride in groups. Follow the route on your computers and enjoy the weekend adventure. The North York Moors 300 is not a race but an Individual Time Trial. It is a self-supported bike ride under rules see here at selfsupported.net. Your entry ticket of £25 gets you a place on the 2025 NYM300 mass start at RedSky Bikes. Plus 25% of the ticket sales will go to the charity Heart Research UK. There will be a basic breakfast spread on the morning of the ride and a hot meal on your return.
