✨ About the Organ
The organ at First Congregational Church is itself a star of the evening. Built by the renowned Casavant Frères Organ Company of Quebec, this remarkable instrument contains
1,501 pipes across 26 ranks
, with the system prepared for future expansion to
33 ranks and 1,916 pipes
.
Featuring
three manual keyboards and pedal
, the organ provides the tonal resources necessary to accompany hymns and choral works while also supporting a wide range of recital repertoire. Its design allows organists to perform music from many periods and styles with clarity and richness, from Baroque masterworks to Romantic and contemporary compositions.
The instrument uses
electrically operated slider-and-pallet windchests for the manuals
and
electro-pneumatic windchests for the duplexed and larger pedal stops
, allowing for both precision and expressive versatility. The result is a powerful and flexible instrument capable of filling the sanctuary with sound while supporting the congregation’s long musical tradition.
