The Sher Jung Foundation are excited to announce the fifth event in our AuthorTalks series, where we will be speaking with the acclaimed writer and poet, DALJIT NAGRA! Daljit is Professor of Creative Writing at Brunel University and past Chair of the Royal Society of Literature (01/21-01/25). Daljit has published four poetry collections, all with Faber & Faber. In 2004 he won the Forward Poetry Prize for best single poem, and his debut book won the 2007 Forward Poetry Prize for best first collection and also the South Bank Show Decibel Award and the Cholmondeley Award. He has been shortlisted for the Costa Prize and twice for the TS Eliot Prize. Daljit has been on the Board of the Poetry Book Society and Poetry Archive and is a presenter of the weekly Poetry Extra on Radio 4 Extra. Daljit has been the Keats House Poet-In-Residence. His poem Singh Song was added to the AQA English literature GCSE syllabus. In 2023 Daljit wrote a spoken word piece that was performed by the actor James Nesbitt at the Coronation Concert. In 2022 Daljit was appointed MBE for services to literature.
