Kiel Week | Schilksee
Celebration
Kiele Week (German: Kieler Woche, English: Kiel Week) or Kiel Regatta is an annual international comprehensive sailing competition, and is also one of the important folk festivals in Germany. Some say it is as famous as the Munich Oktoberfest, and some say it is the largest folk event in Northern Europe.
Kiel Week is named after the Baltic coastal city of Kiel. Kiel Week is a traditional festival with a long history in Germany. It starts on the Saturday of the second week of June every year and lasts for 8 days to the Sunday of the third week.
Since the development of the first Kiel Week in 1882 more than 100 years ago, it is not only limited to sailing ships, but even official ships and military ships of various countries are invited to come, gradually forming an international comprehensive exchange art week. At the same time, during the festival, cultural and entertainment activities such as concerts, stage performances, and the "International Market" are also held, where people can appreciate, taste and buy the unique culture, food and goods from many countries around the world.
