Exhibitions
This exhibition presents over thirty years of work by artist Damian Ortega (born in Mexico City in 1967), a leading figure in contemporary art. Ortega's work encompasses various media, including photography, video, sculpture, and installation, inviting the public to re-examine everyday materials and objects to explore social, economic, and political narratives. In his signature sculptures, he disassembles objects such as cars, rearranges their parts, and presents them in entirely new ways. This concept of reorganization is also evident in his works where he suspends and combines objects such as tools, stones, or bricks. These objects are rearranged in a spatial diagrammatic form, often containing humor and profound commentary on political and social issues. This exhibition highlights important works from Ortega's artistic career, as well as a series of works exploring Brazilian architecture. Co-organized by the Museum of Latin American Art (MALBA) in Buenos Aires, this is Ortega's first solo exhibition at the São Paulo Museum.

Claudia Alarcón (born in La Punta, Argentina in 1989) and the Silät weaving collective were founded in 2023. This group comprises women from the Vichi tribe community in Salta Province, northern Argentina. They create textiles using ancient techniques of their community. This exhibition features approximately 30 works, some of which have never been shown before. These works, made from Chaguar fiber (a bromeliad native to the artists' homeland), recreate traditional patterns and techniques for making yica (a local specialty bag). For the Vichi people, weaving is an act deeply intertwined with memory, mythology, and place. Alarcón and the Silät collective have inherited and developed this knowledge, attempting to create exquisite works based on traditional patterns. By reasserting the role of women, the artists use textile production as a living language and cultural political manifesto to express their history and identity. This is Alarcón and Sillat's first solo exhibition in Brazil.

Exhibitions
This exhibition, dedicated to Santiago Yavarcani (born 1960 in Pevas, Peru), brings together approximately 30 paintings, including some never before exhibited. Following his participation in the 60th Venice Biennale (2024), which garnered widespread public and critical attention, this exhibition continues the artist's influence on the international stage. This indigenous artist from the Uitoto tribe of the Peruvian Amazon, his work is deeply rooted in the oral traditions, cosmology, and visual culture of his community, expressing family memories, history, and imagination. Through painting, Yavarcani has developed a creative practice that blends artistic exploration and narrative reconstruction. The displacement, violence, and survival history of his family—descendants of the rubber boom survivors—are central themes in his work. The use of natural pigments and "lanchama" (a type of canvas made from Amazon tree bark) reinforces his connection to the land. This exhibition is a joint effort between the University of Chopo Museum in Mexico City and the Whitworth Art Museum in Manchester.
