Feed The City is a monthly volunteer opportunity where individuals come together at a local venue to make lunches for people in need. Feed The City – A Community Meal-Packing Event by Tango Charities Join us for Feed The City , a hands-on volunteer experience where individuals, families, and groups come together to make a difference; one meal at a time. In just two hours, we’ll assemble an incredible amount of meals for those experiencing food insecurity in our community. 🧡 What to Expect At this event, you’ll gather around tables with other volunteers to make sandwiches, pack lunch sacks, and spread some kindness. It’s simple, impactful, and fun for all ages! We encourage you to wear orange to show your support (optional), tie your hair back, and wear bleach-safe clothing. ✅ Key Details Before Registering All participants ages 18+ must register individually below. Youth under 18 must be accompanied by an adult , with a required 5:1 youth-to-adult ratio . Use the calendar below to find and register for upcoming event dates. We ask everyone attending (any age) to bring enough supplies to make 25–30 meals . See the list below for item details. 🛒 What to Bring Please bring all items listed below to make 25–30 complete meal kits. If you’re attending with a group, each person should bring their own full set of items, we do not recommend splitting the list among group members. When shopping, refer to the serving size on the product’s nutrition label to help estimate quantities. Each person should bring: Sliced Bread – Preferably wheat or whole grain for healthier meals Deli Meat – Pre-packaged turkey, chicken, or ham (organic and preservative-free preferred) – No deli counter meat allowed Sliced Cheese – Pre-packaged, real sliced cheese (not processed cheese products) Yellow Mustard – Only standard yellow mustard (no spicy mustard or mayo) Tangerines – Halos, Cuties, or other easy-to-peel varieties Chips – Large, sharable bags made with healthier ingredients and oils – Avoid individual snack bags Sandwich Bags – Zip-top bags only (no fold-over style) 🕘 Event Schedule Arrival Time: 8:30 AM – 9:00 AM Event Begins: 9:00 AM Duration: Approximately 2 hours 🥪 Can't Attend in Person? You can still support the cause by dropping off completed lunch sacks containing: One bottle of water One granola bar Two tangerines OR one apple (in a zip-top bag) One tuna pouch OR applesauce cup A hand-written positive note or drawing on the outside of the bag Unpacked food donations are also welcomed at the event site. 💬 FAQs Do I need to register? Yes. All participants 18+ must register. RSVP on Facebook is also encouraged. Can I bring friends or a group? Absolutely! Just ensure each person brings a full set of supplies. Is there an age limit? No! Feed The City is for all ages. Kids must be supervised. Can I leave early? Yes. You're welcome to stay for as long as you're able. Can I donate money instead of items? We prefer product donations so we can assemble meals on-site. Join us in creating meals and moments that matter. Together, we can fight hunger and feed hope in our communities.
