Our archery beginners course is designed to give a you a solid introduction to the sport. You will learn a range of skills that will prepare you to shoot safely and independently in a club environment. This course will take place over two 4-hour-long Saturday sessions: Saturday 18th January 11am - 3pm Saturday 25th January 11am - 3pm On successful completion of the course you will receive a certificate that shows that you have demonstrated the skills required to join Brent Valley Archers as a club member (this certificate can usually be used to join other Archery GB recognised clubs as well). This course will be taught in a small group and covers the following following: * Safety on the range. *Warm-ups. * Archery 'form' / T-draw - How to position your body, draw and aim the bow then release the arrow in a way which helps ensure your shots are consistent using the correct muscles to avoid injuries. * Shooting the bow without sights (Barebow) - This is the technique first taught to all beginners and is the most intuitive method. * Shooting with the use of sights (Olympic Recurve). * General archery skills such as line etiquette, stringing your bow, bow components, scoring and setting up the range. In order to successfully complete the course and gain your certificate, you will need to attend all of the scheduled sessions, covering all of the topics on the syllabus. The price of this course includes use of all the equipment that you need, coaching and insurance. BVA is a safe and accessible environment which is supportive of individuals with learning disabilities or challenges - we can be flexible and make adaptations in our coaching styles.
